BEFORE, DURING & AFTER

BEFORE CLEANSE

Start your cleanse preparation 3-5 days prior to beginning the first day your chosen cleanse. Gradually reduce and eliminate coffee, alcohol, sugar, and refined foods. The more you can stick to this plan, the better your results will be. Caffeine is often the most difficult, and can give you a withdrawal headache around day 2 if you haven’t taken steps to reduce it. Our advice for a smooth withdrawal is to halve your intake each day beginning at least 3 days prior.

The time it takes to prepare for a juice cleanse varies depending on your current diet and lifestyle. If you tend to have quite a healthy diet including lots of fresh vegetables and wholegrains, drink plenty of water and indulge in the occasional glass of wine, a three day preparation should be perfect.

In the day leading up to your cleanse, it is particularly important to focus on including whole, fresh vegetables and fruit, plenty of salads, and be sure to drink plenty of water – aim for 2 litres daily.

We will send you more detailed information and delicious recipe suggestions for your final day before starting – it’s important to us that you feel supported throughout this process so we have made every effort to ensure an easy and successful cleanse for you.

It’s important to also make some room in your fridge. You are going to need to house anywhere between 6 – 18 beautiful drinks at any one time depending on your chosen length of cleanse, and it is very important that they make it into their new cool home as soon as possible after delivery.

DURING CLEANSE

Our drinks are numbered in the order that we recommend you consume them. This is based on the cleansing properties of each juice. After beginning with a tonic of organic lemon in warm water, wait until you feel hungry, and then try your smoothie. This will boost energy and continue the cleansing process from the day before. Moving on to the middle of the day, the juices are designed to increase metabolism and circulation, followed by flushing out excess waste and toxins towards the end of the day. You will be drinking a juice approximately every two hours- a rough guide may be 8.30am, 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

Points to consider

Water

Just because you are enjoying nutritious, hand-crafted beverages, doesn’t mean that you can forget about water. Hydrating your body is essential for successful detoxification, so please continue to drink water (filtered if possible) in between your juices. A slice of citrus or cucumber make welcome additions for taste and even sneak a few extra nutrients into the mix.

Chew your drinks

This may sound bizarre, but is the best way to extract maximum nutrition from your cleanse. The act of chewing encourages our bodies to release digestive enzymes, facilitating absorption and assimilation of each and every nutrient.

Rest

Cleansing presents individual experiences. Some will feel completely energised throughout, some will ride waves of energy, and others will be anywhere in between. Use your cleanse as an opportunity to take it easy, and allow your body to use as much energy as possible to detoxification.

Optional extras

Feel free to personalise your tonics by adding fresh ginger, extra lemon, or cayenne pepper.

AFTER CLEANSE

It’s important not to just jump back into eating all foods after you cleanse. Your digestive system has been taking it easy, so you will need to go slowly. On the first day after cleansing, continue the same morning routine of organic lemon in warm water. This is a wonderful way to wake up the digestion, and hopefully something that you may feel motivated to continue with on an ongoing basis. Wait until you feel hungry, and don’t forget to take your time and chew properly.

For the first day, keep grains and legumes out of the equation. A fruit salad is a great choice for breakfast. For lunch, choose options such as a beautiful cleansing salad or nourishing soup, or some lightly cooked vegetables. Sip on coconut water and filtered water throughout the day.

From day two you can include gluten free grains such as quinoa, buckwheat, millet and brown rice. After that, feel free to slowly introduce dairy and other animal products.

Set yourself up for success by stocking your fridge with lots of lovely fresh produce, in particular the highly alkalising varieties such as green vegetables, lemon, fresh herbs, and avocado. Fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kimchi would be welcome additions, not only for their cleansing properties, but for their beneficial effect on gut health.
